What Is Lupus?
Lupus is an autoimmune disease which is caused when our immune system does not function properly. It may have mild effects but in severe cases it can also become life threatening. It is not contagious.There are types of lupus that may affect a person. These include Discoid, Drug-Induced and Neonatal. According to the Lupus Foundation of India, about 5 million people worldwide suffer some from the disease. It further states that more than 90% of lupus sufferers are women.
