Prime Minister Lays Foundation Stone of AIIMS in Punjab

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday laid the foundation stone of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bathinda district in Punjab. The 750-bed hospital and institute will be built at a cost of Rs 925 crore and will be spread over 200 acres. The AIIMS project will cater to south-west Punjab, comprising the districts of Bathinda, Mansa and Sangrur where cancer and other diseases are widely prevalent. Women with PCOS More Likely to be Affected by Diabetes: AIIMS Study

An AIIMS study has claimed that women suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition of hormonal imbalance, are more likely to be affected by diabetes. Notably, the polycystic ovary syndrome has taken epidemic proportions in the country affecting around 23 per cent women. The study by Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, Associate Professor, Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, AIIMS, was published in American Society of Reproductive Medicine Journal (Fertility sterility) in July. AIIMS reports 9 dengue deaths, toll 18

The hospital said a total of 96 patients were admitted to AIIMS, of whom 56 have been discharged.
