Children account for 15 per cent of 1400 new cases of cancer turning up annually at JIPMER here, the centrally sponsored health institute said. A release from the Department of Medical Oncology of the Regional Cancer Centre in JIPMER said the most common cancers were leukemia, lymphoma and CNS tumours. British teenagers drink almost a bathtub full of sugary drinks each year, Cancer Research UK said on Tuesday as the charity urged the government to do more to improve children’s diets. Children aged 11 to 18 consume on average 234 cans of sugar-sweetened soft drinks each year, CRUK said.
